At a first glance the display appears to be the only change. The similar build quality with the general layout of the band unchanged. Its display is covered by a layer of Gorilla glass and the display offers various fitness information such as footstep count, calorie count, heart rate and time. The material used in the band appears too sturdy. It can also function under a wet environment. The previous generation, if you wore, was too tight and could cause minor skin rashes. Its ability to track footsteps has been refined and the output is generally more reliable with greater accuracy as compared to the first generation band. The new feature, the ability to track the heart rate still requires more refinement with is requiring the user to be very still. A feature that stood out was Idle Alert which causes the band to buzz if the user has been idle for a while

While some users will consider the band too restrictive in the features offered the MI Band 2. Its price is a great plus point as it offers a great value for its money. While it can seem a bit bare, with it lacking many advanced features, for its price point it’s a must have for a fitness enthusiast on a budget.
