Apple Watch 2 | Future of Smart Watches

Unveiled this year the Apple Watch 2 brings major upgrades to its predecessor. These changes involve a bigger, brighter and better Screen and improved functionality, water resistance to up to 50 meters.

The watch comes in two sizes such as 38mm and 42mm. With the water resistance of 50 meters it competes directly with the Fitbit Flex 2. While the Fitbit flex 2 tries to be subtle as possible the Apple watch 2 quietly speaks class and the option to quickly switch bands makes this the best smartwatch on the market.

With a faster processor and an additional GPU for a smoother view. It also tracks the multiple notifications, the Apple Watch 2 definitely works better than its predecessor. Make no mistake though, the Apple Watch 2 still cannot replace your phone but as a fitness tracker, it does its job pretty well.

apple watch 2The display of the Apple Watch 2 has upgraded and revamped to provide a clearer and sharper image. According to the press release, Apple claims the display is 2 times brighter than the previous one. It offers 1000 nits of brightness Apple claims its best display it has put on any of its devices.

Some of the Upgrades that Apple has included in this new iteration include a built-in GPS for better tracking. The GPS will help in recording data such distance walked, cycled, pace and speed metrics. Using the water resistance of the watch it can be used to count the number of laps swam and the stroke count. The battery on the 38mm model lasts approximately 18 hours according to the figures released by Apple. The Company recommends the 42mm model which should offer a better battery life.

Software upgrades include a better and a faster dock. A new Breath app and more software increments for a better experience. These changes are; a battery display and various notifications that pop up which can be swiped. A nifty feature included is something called Glances which basically act as widgets and offer information in real time. Currently, there are no provisions for third party developers but Apple promises to change that with the release of Watch OS 2. It might allow more customization and more third party applicationsapple watch 2

The addition of Siri which offers comparatively better Voice Recognition as compared to Google Now. It adds another layer that makes the Apple Watch unique as Siri is able to pick up voice commands easily as compared to Google Now or Cortana.
